2025 BMW M4 Coupe and Competition Models

If power and precision handling are top of mind for you, look no further than the 2025 BMW M4. Packed with speed and exhilaration, its acceleration from zero to 60 mph takes less than four seconds while handling corners with expert finesse.

The new M4 boasts a cutting-edge infotainment system, featuring a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and 14.9-inch touchscreen that come together in one continuous curved display. Furthermore, iDrive 8.5 with Intelligent Personal Assistant lets users use voice command navigation, music playback and more - an impressive upgrade indeed!

Power

As an ultra-high performance sports car, the M4 CS boasts plenty of power and exhilarating performance.[1] Crafted for racing purposes, its powerful 405kW[1] from its High Performance M TwinPower Turbo inline 6-cylinder petrol engine ensures an authentic M experience on the road.

The 2025 BMW M4 coupe exudes power and confidence with its muscular form and intimidating stance. Dense bodywork hangs down over massive tires while an airflow management device manages airflow at the front while four exhaust pipes announce its twin-turbo inline six cylinder powerplant.

Its 0-to-60 time of 4.1sec and top speed of 155mph rival those of supercars from just a decade ago, yet its engine really drives home its menacing intent. While it might not sound quite as majestic as earlier M3s with two extra cylinders and turbochargers, its aggressive sound ensures you never forget you are driving something serious.

The M4's steering is highly precise, making it easy to steer precisely where you need it to go. While its ride quality can be firm or jittery over bad surfaces, it never feels uncomfortable - plus its brakes are tremendously strong - enabling quick stops during tight corners or burnouts.

Inside, the M4's single dashboard display contains both an instrument cluster and touchscreen infotainment interface - making for a unique video game-inspired user experience. Although some purists might object, BMW's tech-first approach makes for an engaging driving experience; featuring adaptive cruise control and blind spot monitoring as standard driver aids. Furthermore, its spacious cabin is quiet yet has ample room for people and luggage.

Performance

The BMW M4 is an impressive two-door counterpart of its super sedan counterpart that can perform high-flying acrobatics. Inspired by M3, its spirit and structure remain closely aligned. Tuned by M Performance for driving thrills, its 473 hp twin turbo inline-six engine comes mated to a six-speed manual gearbox for maximum driver involvement.

Its powerful engine propel the M4 from zero to 100 km/h in just 3.5 seconds, reaching an impressive top speed of 220 km/h. M TwinPower Turbo Technology's two mono-scroll turbochargers, direct high-precision injection and variable camshaft control ensure consistent power delivery under any driving condition.

Though the M4 may possess true predatory instinct, its suspension with Adaptive M Suspension provides it with an exquisitely balanced character. Three driving modes adjust damper calibration based on road surface and driver preference for optimal agility, steering precision and ride comfort even during everyday use.

The 2024 M4 CS enhances this refinement further with carbon fiber front splitter and ducktail rear spoiler as well as more horsepower (543hp; 551ps). Its classic looks combined with race-inspired technologies create an exhilarating driving experience - both on track and daily life!

As soon as you step inside an M4 cabin, expect plenty of carbon fiber and attractive digital gauges. In addition, there is a 14.9-inch touchscreen running BMW's latest operating system iDrive 8.5 which features voice controls, buttons on the steering wheel and even a rotary controller in the center console - making this vehicle's infotainment system intuitive and responsive enough for anyone to use without difficulty.

Style

The 2024 BMW M4 Coupe and Competition models offer plenty of style in addition to power. For instance, bold carbon fiber interior trim adds a sporty edge while thick model-specific steering wheels with red shift paddles come standard on Competition models. Furthermore, an adaptive M Suspension automatically adapts itself according to your driving style for optimal balance of comfort and handling.

If you want something with more flair, opt for the M4 CS. Drawing inspiration from BMW CSL race car models, this version of the M4 adds extra flare to its street-oriented version. Expect black exterior with yellow daytime running lights, exposed carbon fiber elements and laser-tech taillights. Adding an optional carbon-fiber roof further elevates its style.

Inside, the M4 boasts a roomy and luxurious cabin. Its sport seats come bolstered with illuminated M logos for an authentic race car feel, while you can upgrade to carbon-fiber bucket seats for even more race car excitement. Furthermore, there's ample legroom in its back seat despite having such a small two-door coupe body type.

BMW introduced its latest iDrive 8.5 operating system for use on its M4 in 2024 model year cars, adding enhanced graphics and menu structures for easier navigation. A 14.9-inch curved display sits atop the dashboard in front of the driver; control is via touchscreen control or multiple buttons on steering wheel or through voice command from Intelligent Personal Assistant feature.

Technology

BMW's M3 and M4 sports cars have long been celebrated for their racy, track-focused character. But early in its life - especially Competition spec - BMW's M4 seemed particularly unruly in how its turbocharged torque hit the rear axle, seemingly dispensing with tactfulness like any M3. Unfortunately this seemed like a sure sign they'd lost their touch; fortunately however, some tweaks quickly fixed this problem.

The M4 CS was engineered for racetrack performance but makes for a reliable daily driver as well, thanks to its M TwinPower Turbo engine, which boasts 405 horsepower and 406 lb-ft of torque. Accelerate from zero to 60mph in just 4.1 seconds before reaching an electronically limited top speed of 280mph1.

With all that power at your fingertips, the standard Dynamic Stability Control system will come in handy. In addition, M-developed electric power steering with Servotronic delivers precise steering for sporty feel and precision steering. Inside you will also find premium amenities such as heated front seats and available carbon-fiber interior accents.

Your fuel efficiency worries will be alleviated with the M4's EPA rating of 16 mpg city and 23 mpg highway. And its in-car digital display shows you exactly how much gas remains and offers various driving modes to optimize its operation. Plus you get innovative safety technology such as Lane Departure Warning and Active Blind Spot Detection as well as BMW Assist eCall system integration; Apple CarPlay/Android Auto integration plus an iDrive infotainment system equipped with the latest software plus the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant voice-command functionality make the M4 an excellent vehicle choice!

Value

The BMW M4 offers an unparalleled combination of everyday drivability and incredible performance, making it a top pick among enthusiasts looking for an all-purpose two-door car to do everything from run errands to commute downtown without feeling constrained. The top model, with its 503-horsepower engine and price tag that could deter some potential buyers is M4 Competition; however, some potential buyers find its steep cost prohibitive.

BMW touts this vehicle as one designed for driving on track, and BMW claims it to be "the most powerful four-door in production." Yet is its expense justified given that so many other performance cars can be had for that price tag? Throttle House recently had the chance to test drive a loaded M4 CSL and came away with mixed feelings - it can be challenging but can also be thrilling if driven correctly - although some hosts found themselves fighting against its weight while remaining in control; that makes the M4 CSL fun but can also make driving it difficult compared with more conventional four doors!

The M4 CSL offers a spacious trunk, making it a practical option. However, if you need to transport multiple passengers simultaneously there may be better choices: the Mercedes-AMG C63 S coupe, Audi RS 5, and Porsche 718 Cayman GTS 4.0 all offer more seating and cargo room than its counterpart.

The BMW M4 comes equipped with the latest version of BMW's iDrive infotainment system, accessible by touchscreen, voice commands or dial. Users can control it using touchscreen controls, voice recognition or dial mounted in the center console; all models support Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and wireless device charging; additionally they feature Harman Kardon surround-sound system as well as BMW ConnectedDrive services to connect phone, vehicle and home technologies seamlessly.
